Sunni fighters backed by ISIS have made further advances in Iraq’s western province of Al Anbar, seizing control of important border crossings with Syria and Jordan. A tribal leader from the region has told the BBC 90 percent of Al Anbar is now in rebel hands. The airport in the northern town of Tel-Afar is also reported to have been captured.
Demonstrations in Kosovo over a clash with police at a bridge between the local Albanian and Serb communities in the Northern town of Mitrovica. Police used tear gas against hundreds of ethnic Albanian protesters who threw rocks and set police cars on fire. Some officers and civilians have been hurt.
Researchers in the US say they’ve discovered why stress can lead to heart attacks and strokes. They found that stress increases the production of white blood cells, which can then stick to the walls of arteries, restricting blood flow and encouraging the formation of blood clots.
